»My 3 daughters«

by Bartho Geldenhuys, October 9, 2009

Birth, born, each one of you came
Daughters, three of you, each one for me
Blessed I am, making me a father
Dreams form, what will become of each daughter

Protective as only a father can be
Showing them off proudly, they were given to me
Pretty they will be, any aspiring gallant knight's prize
Slowly nurturing them to individuals where they can be

Perfect as a father I am not, where do I draw the line?
Am I the keeper or the trustee?
Perforations, I realize, is part of we
Able I am not consistently; fatherhood does not come with ease

God-given I cannot deny, you are a blessing
Pleasant burden for I have come to rely on you
Giving meaning to my life, believing each one of you are depending
Poltergeist as my soul may be, I deeply love each one of you!
